Paprikás krumpli

kolbászos paprikás krumpli [ˈkolbaːsoʃ pɑprikaːʃ krumpli] – paprika potato sausage stew

It tastes the best with home-made sausages 😉

kolbászos [ˈkolbaːsoʃ] – with sausage
[ˈkolbaːs] – sausage
paprikás [ˈpɑprikaːʃ] – with paprika
krumpli [ˈkrumpli] – potato
fakanál [ˈfɑkɑnaːl] – wooden spoon

Peel the potatoes, wash, and cut into slices. We will use them later.
Pour a little oil or add some lard to a clean pot.
Add chopped onions to the oil or lard, and cook them until they get soft, glassy.
Add the sausage slices and slow fry it for a few minutes.
Stir in the paprika powder, pour a little water and mix it with the onions and sausages.
Add the potato slices, and pour on water to barely cover the potatoes.
Peel and chop 2-3 cloves of garlic, and add it to the pot.
Add some salt, mix everything together, bring to slow simmer and let it cook. You may or may not cover the pot. While cooking, stir it a few times, and cook until the potatoes are tender.
When it’s ready, remove the pot from the heat and let it rest for a couple of minutes before serving.
