The foreigners, who are learning Hungarian, are taught that it has this many grammatical cases. I guess it is because it is the easiest way to learn the grammar. But we, native Hungarians learn our grammar through some other methods, that do not mention that it had any cases. We divide these suffixes and endings into 3 main categories: képző (derivational suffix / formative syllable), jel (inflectional suffix / signing syllable) and rag (case suffix / declining/conjugating/sticking syllable).
“There are three categories of suffixes, traditionally: rag, jel and képző. Of course, you needn’t to learn which category does a suffix belong to. It’s more important to know how to use it.” ~ lattilad.org
So don’t be surprised if you ask a Hungarian “How many cases are there in Hungarian?” and they will not know the answer. Most of them will not even know what you are talking about. 🙂
But before you would ask whether we use all of these and how often, well, we use them all and daily. 😉
